Transform How You Divert Your Kitchen Waste: CompostFit Officially Launches

Today marks the official launch and general availability of CompostFit, an innovative, smart indoor composting solution designed to simplify the process of sorting personal compost and bring effortless sustainability directly to the modern kitchen.

Every year, millions of tons of household food scraps end up in landfills, generating harmful greenhouse gases. CompostFit was engineered to solve this challenge by offering a “no brainer” solution to the challenge of collecting compost in your kitchen in an effort to make composting an easy and more comfortable experience.

Equipped with two telescoping components that fit the Rev-A-Shelf RV-35 and RV-50 pull-out trash cans found in many U.S. kitchens, CompostFit solves the challenges of too-small countertop compost containers. Designed to hold more and to fit into Rev-A-Shelf RV-35 and RV-50 trash bins, CompostFit allows for a more user-friendly experience, making composting as easy as recycling, fitting right into your existing trash bin, allowing for compost of soiled paper goods as well as your food scraps. CompostFit was designed around the organics-sorting rules of California’s SB 1383, passed with goals of reducing methane emissions.

Key features of CompostFit include

  • Fits directly into Rev-A-Shelf RV-35 and RV-50 trash bin models: Telescoping bin fits directly into your existing pull-out trash bin cabinet, allowing for seamless sorting of recycling, trash & compost.
  • Rigid construction and engineered rim teeth: Rigid construction of the telescoping components and the locking mechanism allow for secure setup, and the rim teeth hold the adjacent trash bag so that there’s no slippage.
  • Compact, modern aesthetic: Designed to integrate seamlessly into trash bin pull-out cabinets with no additional footprint needed.
  • Wide mouth entry: The rim and volume set for the container are wide and ensure that all items that are compostable — including food scraps, soiled paper towels, napkins and unlined soiled paper plates, as well as soiled cardboard — can be accepted into the bin.
  • Easy emptying: Straightforward emptying of compost directly into your exterior green bin or external composter lets you decide when to take the compost out, not when the countertop bucket is overflowing.
  • Dishwasher-safe bucket: The telescoping components pull apart easily for effortless disassembly, dishwashing and reassembly.

“Sustainable living shouldn’t disrupt your home. We make clean, simple tools designed to fit real family kitchens — helping you cut down on waste without the mess or the hassle,” said Alan Leard of CompostFit. “You shouldn’t need an expensive motorized composter or a bin taking up your valuable kitchen countertop or floor space. CompostFit puts that power right in your pull-out trash bin.”

Mission

“Our mission is to integrate effortless sustainability into everyday homes by creating clean, intuitive tools that fit naturally into the way modern families already live. By eliminating the friction and mess of kitchen scrap collection, we empower households to divert organic waste from landfills and make a lasting, positive impact on our earth.” — Alan Leard, Co-founder of CompostFit

The problem

Despite growing organic waste mandates and environmental awareness, residential kitchen composting creates daily friction. Countertop containers clutter food preparation areas, fill up rapidly, attract pests, and generate odors, while motorized countertop appliances remain costly, bulky, and power-intensive.

The solution

CompostFit eliminates countertop clutter entirely by integrating directly into existing under-counter pull-out trash cabinets (specifically Rev-A-Shelf RV-35 and RV-50 models). By situating compost collection alongside standard trash and recycling, household waste sorting becomes seamless, clean, and intuitive.

Leadership & founders

Alan & Jana Leard — Co-founders, Product Development. Alan and Jana Leard engineered CompostFit to solve the everyday frustrations of countertop clutter and small-capacity kitchen compost bins.
