About CompostFit
San Diego, California · Est. 2026CompostFit makes one product: a two-piece, dishwasher-safe compost insert that drops into the pull-out trash can you already have — the Rev-A-Shelf RV-35 and RV-50. Your trash bag tucks under its rim, so one can holds both compost and trash, with no countertop bin and no compost bags.

Why we built it
California's SB 1383 asks every household to keep food scraps and food-soiled paper out of the trash. Most of the options for doing that at home mean another bin on the counter, a small caddy that fills in a day, or an expensive electric composter. Many kitchens already have a pull-out trash cabinet, so we built an insert that turns it into a compost-and-trash sorting station without adding anything to the counter.
Our mission is to integrate effortless sustainability into everyday homes by creating clean, intuitive tools that fit naturally into the way modern families already live.
The team
Alan & Jana Leard — Co-founders, Product Development. Alan and Jana engineered CompostFit to solve the everyday frustrations of countertop clutter and small-capacity kitchen compost bins, developing the telescoping design that turns an existing pull-out trash can into a multi-stream sorting station.
Bri & Sean Deichstetter — Co-founders, Sales & Marketing. Bri and Sean helped engineer and develop the design of CompostFit and oversee brand strategy, media relations, go-to-market and customer experience.
How we sell
